On the brink of completing my Diploma in Mass Communications in Penang, I began thinking about future career paths.

I first discovered Queensland University of Technology (QUT) and in 2018, my family took a flight to Brisbane – the first ever city in the land Down Under we’d visit for a holiday and university tour. Unbeknownst to me at the time was the significance of the trip which would spark the chain events leading into the major career milestones ahead.

When I enrolled in university I wanted to work in an industry that was safe; countless job opportunities, a plethora of avenues to explore, and endless chances to learn new skills – that’s why I chose a degree in Business Management and Professional Communication. If anyone had told me that a career in this field might not actually have the longevity I was looking for, I would have scoffed. How could this possibly be?
